Empowering parents, empowering communities

If you would like to support other parents, enjoy learning new skills and being part of a team, then a new volunteer opportunity could be the thing for you.

Volunteers are needed to train to deliver a parenting course to other parents with Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities – a volunteer-led, evidence-based parenting programme.

Volunteers will be given the chance to build on their existing skillset and train to become Parent Group Leaders.

Working Win extended in Bassetlaw to end of 2022!

The fantastic Working Win initiative which supports people who have a health condition to find and stay in employment, has been extended in Bassetlaw until the end of the year!

If you’re looking for a new role, or struggling at work, you can sign up to get free Working Win support.

When you sign up, you’ll receive one-to-one support from a dedicated Employment Specialist, and quickly begin to look for a job that’s right for you.

You can also get help with:

• Help with applications, CVs and improve your interview skills
• Support to help you continue working and manage your health condition
• Meet with your employer to talk about your needs at work.

BCVS publish Bassetlaw Social Prescribing report

Social prescribing is a process to help people make positive changes in their lives and within their communities. The need for this process is ever more critical in 2022.

Bassetlaw Community and Voluntary Service is pleased to share the #WorkingTogether Social Prescribing in Bassetlaw report.  Social prescribing is a process to help people make positive changes in their lives and within their communities. The need for this process is ever more critical in 2022.

The impact report highlights the success of the Bassetlaw model of Social Prescribing across the three Primary Care Networks that cover the district – Retford and Villages, Larwood and Bawtry, Newgate and Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

BCVS CEO, Andria Birch, said:

“Bassetlaw has a long history of very strong partnership working which has resulted in a partnership support ecosystem which is agile, responsive, and provides impactful support for our local communities.

“BCVS and the wider Bassetlaw Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise sector sit at the heart of the social prescribing model with Bassetlaw Place Based partners and are critical to the success of the model.

“Social prescribers provide two-way pathways of support and intelligence both for patients and to inform and support VCSE asset development across Bassetlaw in response to need and patient voice.

“We are proud of our track record and as an exemplar model have been invited to present to national fora twice in recent weeks.

“We now look forward to building on this success within the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System.”
