Older and Wiser: updated guide offers support for later life across South Nottinghamshire

An updated version of the Older and Wiser guide is now available, offering older people across South Nottinghamshire practical information, advice and support to help them maintain their health, wellbeing and independence as they age.

Getting older can bring new challenges, but it can also bring new opportunities. The Older and Wiser guide has been designed to help people navigate later life with confidence, providing accessible information on a range of topics, including staying healthy and independent, finding the right support and planning for future care needs.

Originally developed by Gedling GP Caroline White, with support from the Phoenix Programme and South Nottinghamshire Place-Based Partnership, the guide has been updated to ensure it continues to provide relevant and useful information for older people and those supporting them.

Caroline said: “I created this resource to support older people and also colleagues across health and care in South Nottinghamshire in their care of older people. It has been carefully written in patient-friendly language and includes lots of useful information focused on maintaining health and independence in older age, accessing support and care planning.

“The content has been co-produced with patient groups, community and hospital colleagues, and I am delighted that we can continue to share this resource more widely.”

The updated guide is being promoted across GP practices and community settings throughout South Nottinghamshire, helping to make sure more people can access the information and support available to them.
